Hi,

I'm moving this thread over to Java in General (Beginner) since the question is not really related to Cattle Drive but Java in general.

Please follow-up over there.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to JavaRanch!

Java is a programming language and platform.

"Core Java" is the name of a couple of well-known books about Java; "core" in this context means the central, most important part (although the books don't really have such a focus.) Otherwise, there's no formal, specific thing called "core Java".
