Resources for example code?

I'm really confused on some very basic topics of Java, instances for example, and wonder if there is a site with exaple code written for the new user like myself.

So far I found example coding in the few books that I own but would like to see more.

Like S said, the Java Tutorial is an excellent resource for the n00b. It explains the concepts of programming with Java from the ground up. If you have a specific task and want a quick example, The Java Developers Almanac has a searchable database of examples. Searching this here ranch can give you some valuable information as well.
