compile warning - what does it mean?

Hello, everyone!

I get this compile warning message:

*.java uses unchecked or unsafe operations.

What does this mean?

Karen,

Not sure if the following helps but my understanding is unchecked refers to Exception errors. Maybe someone else could elaborate on this.

I think it has to do with Java 5 Generics. You are probably using Java 5, with pre-Java 5 code.
