Jasper, Eclipse

Hi,

I know core java and I begin to learn JSP/Servlet thru' Head First Servlet and JSP.
I want to knpw about Jasper. What is Jasper? Any links or online tutorial for Jasper for beginners. What is Eclipse? Please don't mistake me, I caome across these words frequently. That's why I'm interested to know what it is?

Eclipse - it is java editor. used to develope a java application, jsp,servlet and etc..., It has more futures.... ha ha..

I'm Jasper. No, wait, I'm Jesper!

Since you're talking about JSP, with Jasper you probably mean the JSP compiler that is included with Tomcat. You don't normally need to know much about Jasper. Tomcat invokes it automatically behind the scenes to compile your JSPs.

Thank for the reply. I think I have asked the wrong question. However now I understood about Jasper(i.e., it is related to the tomcat :roll: )

If we want to use JSP with Excel or Servlet with Excel for the report generation from the the databsae, is there any tool available?

Aha. So you did mean JasperReports - A Kumar already mentioned it above.

Note: JasperReports is something entirely different than the JSP compiler included with Tomcat, although they both have the name "Jasper".

It's also entirely different from

and
Jasper - a COM object that is able to read and execute code from existing Java classes and expose the classes as COM objects.
