After reading a response from Jess in this thread....
Christian Bale is hot, hopefully this next Batman movie won't suck.
Who cares if Christian Bale is hot or not. I don't know who the significant other will be in this movie, but I don't care if she's hot or not. What I care about is whether or not the movie is good. Chances are it won't be good. It's some futile attempt to bring back the Batman franchise and trying to capitalize on the whole "prequal" thing that Star Wars (which sucks now too) started.
Yes, it's nice to watch a movie where the mear site of the lead actor/actress doesn't make you vomit, but come on.
I don't want to go pay $8+ for a movie just because the lead is hot. It is sad that this is why crappy movies can still do well. This is also why the music industry sucks right now...But that is another thread I think I will start.

pick on Jess day, huh?
And you a correct, a Hot Actor/Actress does not make a movie good. But if its an actor I've seen in previous movies and liked -- then it gives me more reason to watch it.
ex: Steve Buschemy is by no means attractive... but if I enjoyed watching him in movies as much as other actors... I may be more inclined to watch his next film.
I've also got a thing for Hugh Jackman (mmmmmmm ) This new Van Helsing thing looks pretty dang odd though. So I don't know if my crush on Hugh will get me to go in a theatre for it... might have to wait for video.
And just to bring this full circle to Mr. Christian Bale... my interest in the movie will probably stay picqued until I can finally see a preview -- then I'll decide if I see it or not. I already made the mistake once in seeing Christian Bale in a really bad movie: Reign of Fire

That's what I don't understand about popular music - why would anyone care how pretty the singer is? At least with movies, you get to see the good looking actors/actresses.
Then again, with MP3, WMA, and AAC replacing CD quality sound, maybe you can't hear how good the singer is either, any more.

I have to say, there've been cases where I hated an Actor because they were good looking, only to find that I enjoy them as an artist despite myself.
Case in point: Brad Pitt. He's too blonde and tall, so I hated him instantly. However, I find that I enjoy his movies.
1. Johnny Swede(sic)
2. 12 monkeys
3. Legends of the fall
4. Fight club
5. Snatch
6. Seven
7. A river runs through it
all great movies(IMO), and all Brad Pitt. What gives?

I like 12 monkeys, Fight Club, and Snatch versions of Brad Pitt. Legends of the Fall? Come on..
Seven was good. Brad Pitt in Seven was horrible. "What's in the booooox?" Sounded like my 3 year old.
Of course, this brings up another point. I have a friend who won't watch movies with specific people in them. He doesn't care how good the movie might be, he just hates the person so much. I don't understand that at all. There are a lot of good movies who have people in them I don't like. You can't always write off a movie because of bad casting. Even bad acting doesn't make a movie bad in and of itself. You have to take the movie as a whole entity; acting, script, special effects (if any), directing, etc.
Of course, I'm a big movie critic and always have been. Some people watch movies for pure entertainment. They have to leave the movie feeling good and know right away if they liked it or not. Me? Sometimes I leave a movie and it takes me a week to decide if I can say I liked it or not.

I can't stand films that feature either Juliette Lewis or Woody Allen. Highly irrational I know (they're just actors) yet they irritate me so much the whole film is ruined.

I can understand Woody Allen. But Juliette Lewis rocks!

The one thing that annoys me about films is when they feel like a video game; I like great effects as much as the next person, but some films just feel like a lot of tacked together effects set pieces whose plot flow like the plot of a video game. Great on a PS/2 if you're shooting them up, but not so great if its in a movie. IMO anyhow. The latest Bnd movies are a bit like that - they feel like ads for the games that go with them, and part of me suspects that the same people are designing both at the same time.

Blade II was a let down.
LoEG was even more so.
And Underworld? Those people should just be put out of my misery.
I have never liked Keanu, just something about him that irks me for some reason. But Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of my all time favorites, Matrix is-- well, the Matrix, Devil's Advocate was all sorts of fun, heck I even liked A Walk in the Clouds (though I'm loathed to admit it).
Of course, I don't know if he's considered hot or not...

Ok, Underworld could have been a better movie. However, you have to appreciate how the movie was filmed and the special effects.
The parts where someone would morph into the wolf that was CGI. But once they were a wolf, it was a man in a, for lack of a better word, costume. The scene where they are chasing her through the building and they are crawling on the walls and cielings, all done with wires. Pretty cool if you ask me.
And the scene at the very beginning where she jumps from the top of the tower to the ground was someone actually jumping connected to a wire. Remenisce of the first Matrix when they weren't so computer generation happy.
And the story for Underworld was someone original compared to all the other vampire/warewolf movies out there. Kind of a new twist on things. But the movie was a bit cheesy and the dialog needed some work.
And yes, Kate Beckinsale is hot.
Keanu, debatable. His best role was the Matrix because he didn't have to act or show any kind of real emotion hardly. He could just stand around and look cool and that's about all he is good for. Actually I thought his best role was Bill and Ted's. I love that movie. Whatever happened to Alex Winter?

Agreed: the best Matrix, IMO.

Damn firewall! but yes, I do, no matter what you've dragged up. There's just something about a strong woman who choses you because she wants you, and not because she needs you.
Of course, I haven't seen the picture yet

I can't find the source, but from what I understand the whole premise behind Underworld was stolen from a White Wolf story. Being an avid White Wolf gamer, and an even more so vampire fanatic, they totally gimped the vampires. Based on that movie, the leeches should have been dead a LONG time ago.
The coolest lady in the movie was the elder on the train. And I'm sorry, but a train full of elder vampires would have been able to handle a couple of furballs with guns.
Oh, and Kate passing out after getting that wound in her shoulder?? Come on, she should have been able to pump some blood to that thing and healed up all nice like.
Just plain silly.
The first Matrix rocked comparitively, but the others are still fun to watch if you just watch them for the sensationalism. Oh, and having friends with a flat panel plasma Hi-Def TV and an awesome surround sound system helps, too
You know, I never noticed how Catwoman and Trinity had very similar outfits...
And I'm curious if anyone ever thought Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia were "hot". Before the whole Jabba the Hut thing, of course. I did notice in the new films (which suck, IMHO), the cast has a more GQ look.

I'll just say that the princess was an integral part of puberty for me, and leave it at that.
