Getting values from textfield

this method is used to get the value in a text field and return it as a integer value.
can someone tell me why JTextField CurrentValue is used. normally i see String CurrentValue or int CurrentValue.

can someone explain this to me

In the method you posted currentValue is the name of an instance of the class type JTextField. This instance is passed as an argument into the getValue method.
