Today's NYT
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission voted Thursday to allow employers to reduce or eliminate health benefits for retirees when they become eligible for Medicare at age 65.

I am amazed GWB would try this just a little over 6 months from the election. He's pissing off the military vote. He's lost any environmental vote. A whole bunch of unemployed people are livid. He lost the popular vote and only won because they cheated in Florida.
Kiss Florida Good Bye.

In the US the president is elected by the electoral college. Each state is a winner take all event.

The way things are going for Bush, he'll be lucky to carry Texas.
I'll bet CA has a goody share of retirees too. And A Los Angeles Times poll released Friday showed Kerry leading Bush by 10 points in California

NY is close enough for Kerry to be home son.
CA + NY + FL + MA
55 + 31 + 27 + 12 = 125
It takes 270 to win. 125/270 is 46 percent or almost halfway there.
Could Kucinich have bought himself the VP nomination with Ohio's 20 delegates?
Democrats will take back the Senate and the Whitehouse.
Bring it On!

Old Ass People, I'm guessing? Haha, yes, as a Floridian myself and not a member of the {OAP}, I must concur. It seems a second Mason-Dixon line has formed just below Gainesville, as a the great influx of retirees from the North have saturated the lower counties and are now spreading northwards. So, in effect, old those moroons who couldn't punch voting cards correctly were probably included in the {OAP} U {retired Northerner}. Of course, no offense intended if you happened to be a member of these two sets -- unless of course you also belong to the set {can't understand how to punch a hole on a voting card}.
And, finally, it is speculation to say we cheated. Many things went on down here, one of which was that the media declared Gore the winner before all the overseas (primarily military) votes were in. The Panhandle (which I have the misfortune of being stuck in right now) is heavily populated with military folks, and this population, compared to South Florida, is like comparing oil and water. I believe the Panhandle carried Bush, while South Florida put up a decent fight for Gore. Fortunately (yes, I voted for Bush), the Palm Beachers in their stupidity of couting partially-torn chads, indented chads, chads with superficial marks that could be seen only through a magnifying glass, could not pull off enough extra phantom votes to resurrect poor old Gore. Damn, that sucks -- there you thought you won.
