question on JLabel

Hello there....
my name's Uche.
I'm new here,....a JAVA greenhorn (in the real sense of the word ;-))).
'was very happy to find this site,..you're all doing a grat job here...keep it up.
now i have my first question.....
I'm trying to label my JLabel....
which of the following alternatives would you advise me to use...(are the correct usages at all) ?

JLabel weatherreport = new JLabel("Weatherreport");
weatherreport.setVerticalTextPosition(JLabel.CENTER);
weatherreport.setHorizontalTextPosition(JLabel.CENTER);
 
//OR
 
JLabel weatherreport = new JLabel();
weatherreport.setText("Weatherreport"));
weatherreport.setVerticalTextPosition(JLabel.CENTER);
//...ETC ETC....
