From the link: Singh said he had a very "frank, wide-ranging, lively, occasionally amusing discussion" with Powell on "every single aspect of our relationship."
Hmmm, in 60 minutes? Now that explains a lot!! [ June 11, 2004: Message edited by: Ashok Mash ]

Powell acknowledged that they did talk about Iraq, but directed all questions on the issue of Indian troop contribution to Singh. Powell must have tired by now answering questions abt Iraq Singh indicated that India could consider sending troops under the aegis of UN only if it was convinced the UN had a central role in Iraq. still its under surveillance of UN. Which US should have done before destroying Iraq, but in that case contracts could have not been given only to US companies.

If Govt really send troops to die in Iraq then midterm election is not too far.I assume Communists MPs will resist this if govt is really thinking on this.

Have there been reciprocal agreements about US sending troops to Kashmir? or India reduces its contibution to Iraq by amount of troops contributed to Kashmir?

India may send troops to Iraq is requested by the UN or the Iraqi government. I don't see where this is different to any country responding to similar requests to send troops anywhere else...

Natwar as usual takes a U-turn, now has decided that India will not send the troops. He should be dropped.

Not a clue what you are talking about, but as I am the only moderator who has posted in this thread I can only assume you are directing your venom at me. If you have a problem, email me or one of the Sheriffs, or take it to the JavaRanch forum.
