I downloaded JDK-1.4 (i think) and didnt find any exe file there. Is there supposed to be one? I also downloaded another ver of JAVA which was abotu 120 MB and found out that the file was corrupt.

Please let me know where to download JAVA from, how much space it occupies, and whether it comes with an .exe or should we do something else to install it....

Also let me know, if it aint asking for too much, how i link this with Eclipse, and the Tomcat server.

If you are downloading jdk1.5 from sun site. It comes around 54MB and after installing it you can find exe's inside bin directory.

Similar will be the case of jdk1.4. May be the file size lesser than 1.5.

You can download the current version (Java 1.5, also known as J2SE 5.0) from here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

Note: Download the JDK, not the JRE, if you want to compile your own Java programs (the JRE is only for running Java programs).

The installation instructions tell you everything you need to know about installing it. Also see the readme.

When you downloaded and installed it successfully, follow the Getting Started trail of The Java Tutorial.
