is there an equivalent in Java to C++'s printw???

The only reference to a C++ printw method I could find was in a curses library. Is this what you mean ? If so, try googling for 'java curses'. There are a number of implementations out there.

i just decided to make a function that basically did it... i think it was maybe 6 lines of code...
