Hi,
i know the following question may sound a bit silly!!! but really i an curious to know the answer to this question..
regarding universities/colleges in India, what is the difference between ME and MTech???
some people say that it is just that some colleges offer ME (Master of Engineering) and some colleges just rename it as M.TECH (Master of Technology)... but i feel that there is some difference between the two..
can u enligthen me on what this difference is??
thanks in advance and looking to a useful reply......

To my knowledge, when institute wants to starts a course,ME/MTech,it has to take permission from All India Council for Technical Education.Depending on faculty/labs avaiable,it can qualify for the required course.Generally speaking MTech course attracts more crowd as Mtech carries more 'waitage' in market than ME as MTech is supposed to be 'slightly more technical' than ME.So there is more competition for MTech course than ME.Ofcourse there are many exceptions.
Also MTech is supposed to slightly specialized
