Some poll software might be better here ...

I suspect that I am in the minority on this topic. I think that a woman with some gray hair is more attractive than a woman with dyed hair.

Anybody else?

I think a woman with grey hair is much too old for me to look at!!! But in general, I'm against Hair dye, make up and all that other junk that hides a woman's "true self". It's like lying! You think you are picking up a 21 year old hot, blonde, when in reality she is a 50 year old obese greying brunette with wearing a girdle, push-up bra, 10 lbs of makeup and a whole lot of hair dye! It might have something to do with the amount of beer drank by the man too. Beer can have the same effect!

I'm against hair dye because it makes old grey-haired me look like a cradle-robber.

As long as my wife doesn't have as much grey hair as me I don't care. My problem is when she coerces me into helping her dye it!

What about the woman who turns gray at age 40 while her husband and sister don't even start to turn gray until age 65?

so? Deying your hair is denying your age.
Some people grey early, some go bald.

I've a nephew who was nearly completely bald at age 35. I'm 33 and my hair is thinning.
Noone tells him to wear a wig to make himself look younger, yet when his wife shows a few grey hairs she rushes to the paintbrush?

So glad to hear these views! I'm starting to get noticeabley gray. I let a friend talk me into tinting it once & hated it. It looked fine to everyone else, but I knew it wasn't "me". I'll never do it again.

My REAL peeve about women who dye their hair is that god-awful stripe they get running down the middle of their part "in-between" dyes. I'd rather be old-looking & gray than have that "skunk-stripe" on my head!!

My mother dyed her hair for yonks, commencing to do so for the reason of keeping her job as long as possible. My father stubbornly refused to do so.
Then one day she got tired of the work involved and stopped , aging 10 years in a couple of months which was shocking.
But funnily enough the parents seem to have a better relationship ever since.
They are growing old gracefully, together.
But that's just them other couples may require other combinations of dyed, wigged, greying hair.

My 2 cents.

Nothing but long luxurious natural black hair for me... with a faint smell of soapnut... ah, I could bury my face in those long oily strands and forget the world. Heavenly!

My objection to dyed hair is not the coloration, but the texture. Dyed hair has a kind of plasticky/rubbery surface texture; I prefer my wife's hair softer and fuzzier. Then again, she has no grey; she just prefers her hair even redder than it naturally is.

Grey is not an accurate indication of age. I know a woman who started going noticeably grey at 18.

I think it's personal preference. Just like some guys prefer women with long hair whereas others prefer short hair.

Not everyone looks nice with gray hair.

I've no objection about hair-dying. IMO, it's a kind of fashion that can be applied to people of any ages. I used to dye my hair many years ago. But stopped because it affected my scalp and hair texture. Now I prefer long black hair.

I believe that this is the main reason women (and a few men) color their hair. When my father began to turn gray, he looked distinguished. When my mother began to turn gray, she looked old. Why? I'm not sure.

Personally I prefer all natural hair. The texture and the subtle difference in color of all the various hairs composing the whole create an effect that cannot be duplicated by any hair coloring process today. However, I've also seen discrimination (albeit sometimes unintentional) against women with gray/white hair. I think in particular about a woman who turned gray earlier in life and was held back in the workplace because of her apparent age.

I think that if a woman does not work outside of the home, it is not such a big deal what color her hair is. Or maybe my experience is too limited, and the things I see are not widespread.

I think it has to do with patterns. Greying at the temples actually looks kind of good, at least on men. Salt and pepper grey is boring.

However, I've also seen discrimination (albeit sometimes unintentional) against women with gray/white hair..

Men too. Actually, with men, it can work both ways. It used to be that one wouldn't be taken seriously in some positions if you didn't have some grey hair, because people thought you were too young. Nowadays, people sometimes suspect you of having dated expertise if you do have grey hair.

If it looks natural enough colouring usually looks better on a woman. My mum looks better when she hides her grey. If my gran started bleaching her hair and adding neon pink highlights I might hint something's not quite right

PS... what's blue rinsing all about anyway? Never understood that.

Since Paul's question was addressed to men in general, I'll answer: To me, it doesn't matter much either way. Some women look better with gray hair; others look better dyeing it. (And some women could care less what I think about how they look anyway.) I don't think I hold their decision against them either way, in general. If we're talking from the perspective of phyiscal attractiveness (e.g. who am I more likely to hit on) I suppose I'm more inclined (at an instinctual level) to favor those who "look young". But I don't care much if I find out later it was a "lie".

On reflection, it seems that among my longest lived relationships of the past, about half were blondes and brunettes who had dyed their hair red at the time I started dating them. (Though one of these had actually had blue hair when I first met her.) All were apparently too young for grayness to be an issue, but then again, so was I.

[Jamie R]: I think a woman with grey hair is much too old for me to look at!!! But in general, I'm against Hair dye, make up and all that other junk that hides a woman's "true self".

At some point, you and your wife are going to have a serious talk.

Whilst we men would never dream of misrepresenting ourselves in any way during a pickup, right?

A brilliant array in the sock department is most useful ! Think of it as plumage.

Jim, my wife is Japanese. Her Grandmother didn't go grey until she was in her late 60's. I'm praying for a little of that gene in her!
