throws ServletException, IOException {

response.setContentType("text/html");
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
out
.println("<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN\">");

out.println("<HTML>");
out.println(" <HEAD><TITLE>A Servlet</TITLE></HEAD>");
out.println(" <BODY>");
out.print(" This is ");

Check with the settings of you eclipse as what does red mean.You can take the mouse over that to get some friendly help from eclipse.Why do not you try to compile the files from commandline , it will give you errors if any.

One possibility as mentioned by Satou . is that you have not imported the class.Well all this will give you a compile time error ,so better try compiling using commandline.

This error means. You are using a class name that the compiler doesn't recognize.

Its better to post the stack trace instead of just the error message. It just requires you to copy and paste the relevant piece of stack trace.
