No one will help you answer that question.

If you dont make an effort.. we wont either. Use more time coding, and
less time writing posts on the Java Ranch.. and I mean that in the most

You can find the answer to this question by writing a short program that reads and writes ASCII and Unicode characters to/from a file. The javadocs of those classes (and their superclasses) will also be helpful reading.
