Not to show the ellipse?

How do I draw(show) the ellipse only if the start button is pressed?

maybe the questions on swing should be moved to the swing forum... I don't have an answer for you (sorry), but I'm sure there are people viewing the swing section that are not over here in the beginner section. Some of those people can help you much more than a large audience of "noobs."
and by the way, Sun's tutorial on Java is amazing, and they've got a good deal of information on swing; how to use it (and all its features), so I honestly think you could find out what you want to know if you were to read through a few pages online. I personally think you can start at this point.
