Is there a site to do a straightforward download of any JRE version? I'm being directed to sites that have the version 6 download only. Other sites give me a JNLP file that causes an error when I try to execute. I want to simply install the version 1.4.2_13 JRE on a non-development server. Thanks.

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/previous.jsp There is a link to "Previous Releases" in the tabs on the 1.6 download page.

Thanks Chris. Why does this give ma a JNLP file that I can't execute? Is there a way to get a straightforward JRE download file? - like in the old days? At least I think it was like that a few years ago. Paul

Which operating system are you trying to download for ? The only files on the download page are .exe (Windows), .sh (Solaris) and .bin (Linux) files.

Hmm, not sure 'cause I don't get a JNLP. Can you send a link to the page where you are getting the JNLP? In the meantime, try going to: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html Then click 'Download J2SE JRE' The links on that page return .exe, .bin, or .sh files.

I'm being too quick to post - but then the answer always appears when I do that. My problem was I was clicking on the Sun Download Manager link after checking the box beside the download link. I should have just selected the link. Thanks!
