Hello

I can successfully mix the colours RGB in the context of light to get different colours but I am not sure how to mix colours in the context of 'paints' ie RYB mixing them all gives brown etc. Could anyone give me some pointers where how/where to look when it comes to mixing 'paint colours'

Thanks very much for anyone who is able to help me

Here's a useful little tool that allows you to select two RGB values and mix them together.

Hey, I think you guys are misunderstanding. Mr. (or is it Mrs.?) luppy ALREADY knows about RGB color mixing, but he/she wants to know more about RYB. This is completely different, as mixing all the colors together gives you BLACK instead of WHITE. I found a website with vast information on this issue, and it is far beyond the scope of what I wish to study. http://www.handprint.com/HP/WCL/color6.html#theoryadd
It's more theory than just simple calculations, it looks like. But obviously it can be translated into formulas, as it has been done.

Just out of curiosity, just what does your question have to do with Java? Are you trying to make a program to mix colors and give you the result?

Ok, because it seems like it would take a lot of work (or maybe it's just me) to make a program to do that. If it were my project I'd probably try to find some source code somewhere... Or use a tool that's already been made. I am curious now to find out how some of these programs are coded though. I wonder if there's a complicated algorithm, or if it's pretty simple.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
