Sam Walton is the founder of Walmart and Sam's club stores (and probably a few others).

He died in 1992 after receiving the MEdal of Freedom from George Bush. He started the first Wal-Mart Discount City store in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962. They were highly computerised even in the 70s. Wal-Mart are among the first to start thinking of using RFID tags so that shoppers don't have to queue to pay but walk straight through. Asda is an off-shoot of Wal-Mart and some of it's lines like clothing George at Asda are overtaking even Marks and Spencers.

Michael Dell of Dell Computers is only 39 but worth A LOT. 13 billion. He quit universityi n Austin, Texas to to start a direct sales computer business with $1000 and wants to emulate Sam Walton who built "a business system that lived well beyond his life".
