If 1 litre = 0.22 Gallons then it works out to be about 3.63 UKP per Gallon. Assuming youre comparing to US prices, then basing UKP to USD on this page Yahoo Finance
then that equates to $6.58 per gallon

In the Netherlands I paid 1.24 per liter earlier this week. Prices have gone up since and this was a cheap station (highway stations that day charged 1.28 per liter).

That's 5.64 - 5.82 per gallon. At a price of roughly $1.22 for the Euro that comes down to $6.88 - $7.10 per gallon for standard unleaded.

Jesse,

Spain is around 80 cents of a Euro per litre.

Watch out using the word Gas. You may know this already but Petrol and Gas are very distinct in the UK.

Gas is natural gas for homes and petrol is fuel for vehicles, right?

I thought that gas and petrol could be used interchangeably. In America, we refer to vehicle fuel as gas or gasoline. Right now in Southern US States the average price of octane 87 gas is $1.89 per Gallon (the higher the octane, the more expensive). In the Midwest (Chicago area), the average price in the city is $2.15 per gallon for octane 87. I guess we shouldnt complain about the prices, considering how much you Europeans have to pay.

Brits got gas (natural gas) propelled cars (autos) too. So life can get a little complex you see. I learnt to drive in a gas propelled car.

Prices for unleaded just went up another 3 dollarcents per gallon here...

We got cars here driving on natural gas (not a lot, mainly busses, as there's no real distribution network) and liquified propane (LPG).
There's talk of banning LPG because it's supposedly dangerous (a tank might explode causing large damage). Never mind that this has never yet happened in over 30 years, but it's a nice excuse to remove a class of vehicles using fuel which brings in relatively few taxes and replace them with vehicles bringing in a lot of taxes...

When u are talking about cheap gap(petrol), US is the place to be.

Owning a SUV is not bad in US when u look at the gas price perspective.

Fuel price in Australia:

varies enormously depending on the day of the week (for some totaly inexplicable reason)... but

Unleaded Petrol: AU$0.80 - AU$1.10 (US$0.56 - US$0.77)
Deisel AU$0.85-AU$0.95 (US$0.60 - US$0.67)
LPG: AU$50-AU$55 (US$0.35-AU$0.39)

Price has gone up > 70% in last 4 years, but its still waaaay cheaper than UK!

Interesting to see that unleaded fuel has a 30% price variation depending on day of the week, whereas prices for deisel and LPG are much more stable? Any ideas why? Does this happen elsewhere??

Depends where you live. I pay Rs. 43 / litre in Bangalore, which is around 0.9 USD.

Apart from the price (almost) always being higher at the end of the week than at the beginning (and not going down over the weekend)?
