Files processing on server

We have a swing based application which gives an option to the user to browse and select an excel sheet from the local file system. This excel sheet will contain names of various files and their path on the local filesystem.

This excel sheet I am reading using POI. Once the sheet is selected it'll be read using POI and all the files from the local file system (specified in the excel sheet), will be imported into the documetum repository.
There is some DFC code in the Swing application which does this. All this is working fine.

Now, instead of the Swing application I want to do it using web interface. So there'll be a browse button in the JSP page from where user can select the excel sheet. But the problem is that now since the DFC code is in the server (and not on the client as earlier), how to go about it? The excel sheet and the files which need to be imported are on the client while the DFC code which processes it is on the server.

HTML/JSP will be a poor match for your requirements. There's no way to do multiple file upload and returning a list of files for the user to upload would be tedious.
Why do you want to use a web interface in the first place? Would an applet or Java Web Start application fit those requirements?
