I need to come up with a java project to do in my first java class and i can't seem to come up with something. Can I get a couple of suggestion of term projects for a java beginner that i should be able to accomplish by the end of the term. I just need a couple of suggestion that will not be out of my league since i intend to accomplish the work with the knowledge i get from the class I just enrolled in.

Hmm - that's a very difficult question to answer, without knowing more about the course you're doing. Also, it's really the job of your tutor/lecturer/teacher to give you projects like that, since he/she will know what you're about to learn, and how it will be taught.

I'm sure that people can suggest projects that they've had, but you'll probably find that bits will not be taught in your course, in which case it will become significantly harder.

Alternatively, you could buy a Java beginners book, which will almost certainly have some kind of project that you build upon as you read through the book.

i too am a beginner to java and need help on certain things it seems i can work it out in my head what needs to be done but when it comes to putting it into a programme i'm a total failure why? i've got no idea lol. if it helps i'm doing HND Computing which involves an introduction to programming so if you're a beginner like myself then we should be able to help each other no problem. i hope. xx good luck

I have 2 questions.
The first one is: it's about Java or Oriented Object your doubts?
The second is not a question, but here it goes: it's normal to have this doubts in the beggining. Just reading tutorials, codes well projected and searching things you'll get the top of the best Here's one thing that you should not do: create 10 topics with your doubts. I'm sure that someone had the same doubt and asked that... not just in JavaRanch, but too in Sun's forum and others... it's a nice site to learn somethings. And Google is there for everybody.

See you guys around.
