Am I imagining?

I logged on to my Yahoo account today, at around 5pm. I noticed that my size limit had increased to 250MB. However, my limit is now back to 100MB. Did anyone notice this weird occurrence?

My Yahoo account also shows 250 MB. Guess they are competing with Hotmail now.

Well, my hotmail is still that 'massive 2MB' of early 90's! Not that I care, Gmail is infinitely better than hotmail anyway!

Hotmail announced months ago that they'd be upgrading everyone's account (in respnose to gmail I presume). They just got around to upgrading my account last week. You'll probably get an upgrade eventually, Ashok - but I guess maybe it takes some time for them to get all the drives online.

Yup, my account was updated after my wife's account. For a little while I was puzzled as to how she had 250 MB. My fear was that she probably went up and signed something and now I would owe Hotmail a ton of money for the upgrade. It was only later that I realized it was a free upgrade for everyone.

Now that both Yahoo and Hotmail have increased storage capacity to 250MB, are people going to abandon their Gmail accounts? I still prefer Gmail.

my yahoo mail account is free and the quota is 1GB. I remember the condition for upgrading to 1GB is...you must install a yahoo messenger and add a friend. Since I've beening using yahoo messenger for years, it was not a problem at all. I'm not moving to gmail cos yahoo's enough for me. As for my hotmail account, I believe, has been deactiviated for at least a year, I'm not going to activiate it again, if I don't have to.

I switched from Hotmail to Yahoo about 6 months ago after an unresolved issue with my storage - I had a "personal" folder I created to store some school-related emails. Once school was done, I deleted the folder, but I did not first delete the emails. Those emails still count against my total space used, even though I can't get to them to delete them. I went through their online "free" help twice, and only got some standard responses, as if they never read what I wrote about the situation. Go figure.

Yesterday, I noticed they upgraded my account to 250. Too little - too late! I'm a Yahoo-Girl now!!

Ellen, does your yahoo e-mail id end with yahoo.com.cn? I did a quick search, it seems like it's only possible to upgrade to 1G for id ending with yahoo.com.cn.

How can I obtain a Yahoo ID account that will provide 1GB of free space?

Thanks

oh yeah, yahoo-girl's party, cheers!

and, I don't why, it's not that the msn smileys are less cute, but the yahoo messenger is always my prefered chat client. I excluded the windoz completely weeks ago and now I'm using something called Kopete to keep all my old contacts. I miss the yahoo messenger's UI very much. Hopefully yahoo will develop a client for linux users.

I am running Yahoo IM on Linux Suse 9.2 Pro. I don't care for Kopete.

oops, my last post was intended to reply Elaine's past, how swift Jesse and Joyce are!

yes, my yahoo account ends with a .cn. But I've sent the default UI language into English, so that I guess my email server is not in China....something like "http://us.f505.mail.yahoo.com/ym...." indicates that I guess.....yahoo.com.cn has its own server in China, it's extremely slow for me to access any yahoo.com.cn content from here. I'm happy my email server is not in China.

I don't think you guys/gals really want a yahoo account ends with a .cn, but if you do want, very easy to do so. Just register a new email account, say your country is China, then your email account automatically has a .cn suffix. I registered in 1999, when I was still in China. It's not only as big as 1GB now, but the pop3 access is also free. If you have a yahoo.com.cn account, you can download your email with any email client which supports pop3 protocal. Normally this is not free.

oh yea oh yea, I'm downloading the rpm package of yahoo IM....many thanks for Jesse's information

My machine is running SuSE 9.2 pro too. Actually my favourite distro is Mandrake, unfortunately the Mandrake 10.1 doesn't support my motherboard. Installation impossible. SuSE's very easy to install and works so smoothly for almost all kinds of tasks. The only thing I don't like about it is, it's too much customized and can hardly be treated as a standard Linux. The way SuSE organising the libraries is a bit odd. When I had to compile something from source code, I had to specify where all the libraries were, and sometimes that was very time-consuming. My friends strongly recommend Gentoo, something BSD style, well...I guess that's not for lazy people like me, too much work to do for installation.

Thanks for you help. The only Christmas movie, well it's not really a Christmas movie, is The Bourne Supremacy, and Ocean's 12. The Bourne Supremacy is coming out soon on DVD and Ocean's 12 is coming soon to the theatre.

I love anything with Tom Hanks; therefore, I am also looking forward to seeing The Polar Express! I actually watched The Terminal over the weekend. It is a great movie. I will probably watch the incredibles for the Holidays. It looks like a great movie.
