how to set classpath for java on windowsxp?
what is the path that i need to set in uservariables and system variables?

Welcome to JavaRanch!

First, understand that PATH and CLASSPATH are two very different things.

The PATH variable is what your system uses to find Java executables like javac and java. To update the PATH variable, see step 4 of Sun's Java Installation Instructions for Windows.

If you don't have a good reason for setting a system CLASSPATH, then you are best served by not setting any CLASSPATH at all.
