what is the difference between declaring class path as
CLASSPATH and %CLASSPATH%

Which one shall I use and why ?

Sorry nobody has replied earlier.

I think the correct answer is NEITHER. Set up the classpath for each project as a compiler option or in the manifest file for its .jar.

Not certain, I think CLASSPATH means what you set up if you do set anything up, and %CLASSPATH% is a Windows thing which means, "whatever has already been st up in the classpath," but as I said, I am not sure.

You're right. %CLASSPATH% means the contents of the environment variable CLASSPATH, similar to Linux' $CLASSPATH or $(CLASSPATH).
