I found a free pdf of Mastering EJB 3.0 on internet... Can anyone tell me if this is a good book for a first-timer? Also I have just downloaded java_app_platform_SDK-5_06 from the sun site. Will this be sufficient for use with the book?

Yes you can follow mastering EJB3 book. But my option for beginners is EJB3 in Action..
Any fool can write code that a computer can understand. Good programmers write code that humans can understand....
