I think I'll migrate an online meme here to MD. It's been a month or two since I saw it last, so this might not be exactly as you've seen it before.

Take the book that's closest to you right now and turn to page 123. What is the fourth sentence there?

"Note that defensive copies are made before checking the validity of the parameters (Item 23), and the validity check is performed on the copies rather than the originals."

No fair cheating and grabbing your favorite book. Just go with whichever is closest.

We can use MazePrototypeFactory to create a prototypical or default maze just by initializing it with prototypes of basic maze components:

I suppose I may as well post a legitimate one.

This can be annoying if only 3 of your 22 tests need to execute in a certain order.

The mathematical analogy with certain three-dimensional models of the atom is so unstable and transitory that some commentators dismiss the resemblance as of secondary importance, if not purely accidental.

The only run-time setup required for activatable servers is to ensure that the activation daemon rmid is running, and perhaps to bind the activatable stub(s) into the RMI registry.

[Jason]: Ya know, I was going to post that same quote.

Me too. Oh, wait - I did. Nevermind.

I particularly liked how it worked as a follow-up to your quote.

Gotta wonder what other stuff you've got at your desk though.

The first book i had didn't have a page 123. it was numbered by section/page (it's my old UNIX in a nutshell book). the next closest book said

Then (*pfa[])() is a direct-dcl and thus a dcl.
