the above code gives a compiler error stating
cannot find symbol
symbol:class IOException




what does this error mean??

the error means that it cannot find class IOException.
you have to import it in your code. Try import it by add import java.io.*; or import java.io.IOException; before your class declaration and run it.

You will get output catch
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
