Hello Java Ranchers ..I need a suggestion from your side..iam an mca graduate (2008) relieved..i got selected for a local based firm which is not an mnc .They are providing training on php platform ..if i stick to that i need to continue it for the next 5 - 6 months or 1 year .They are giving an experience certificate .Even the pay is good.(and the company is ready to bear me for the next two years without any doubt because they got the project for 4 years .(security is there with pay hikes ..) From the past two years iam in java field as a learner during my mca ...not as a devoloper .iam aware of jse and jee ..

now my question is if i get into that job ..i have to keep java aside for that many months as it is a 8 hr job.more so the platform is php which is not at all good in terms of distributed applications.my intention is i can definitely get certified (scjp(only)) with good percentage in the next 5 - 6 months ..so please let me know if 6 months down the line which one counts more a scjp certificate (with good knowledge in java )
or php experienced certificate (with good knowledge in that field ..) .

please let me know if after 6 months which one will have more value in the market to enter into an mnc either a scjp certificate with good percentage or 6 months experience in php ..if i get into php i can even learn with the same interest and i can do better ..i dont have any personal pessimistic feelings towards php . my question is what would be my position after 6 months ..

iam not all bothering with the pay ..because i do know that money can be spend in 2 minutes .
and even iam 100 percent sure if i wont go to job i can complete scjp ..and at the same time i can revise jsp servlets beans etc ..and ill have good knowledge in web related side .and a scjp certificate in my hand .I have considered the coming 6 months as a crucial period for me ..so please suggest me considering time not the salary .

Hansika ,

After 6 months, your resume will read as a Php/Web developer, not a java developer. I believe you work in Indian software company. Indian software companies hire you based on your previous work experience, and not your professional certifications. So, obviously you would be tagged as php/web developer after 6 month php work.

The MNCs (so called Indian Software Service Companies), will offer you pay based these facrors: your total experience + latest package + your band. So, the pay is not decided based on the technology you have worked on.

Let me tell you one thing, SCJP and all just can push your resume to get short-listed. But, for interviews, you might know things in practical. I have interviewed lot of Java developers, and simply rejected those who just mugup theories and come for interviews.

Was your question answered?

Hansika
Experience counts, irrespective of the employer - startup/MNC/product company etc.

Hello,

which one counts more a scjp certificate (with good knowledge in java )
or php experienced certificate (with good knowledge

... get counted, in terms of what ?

please let me know if after 6 months which one will have more value in the market to enter into an mnc either a scjp certificate with good percentage or 6 months experience in php ..

iam not all bothering with the pay ..because i do know that money can be spend in 2 minutes .

I think you need to prioritise your stuff. I think the first think I can suggest you do is sit down with a pen and a paper and WRITE what you WANT to do. Money is not easy. Money still is and will be the greatest motivation factor for a lot of people. It is for me, atleast. Thankfully our forefathers didnt say " .. Oh this fella will die in a second (or may be a millisecond) and hence let me not have him/her and let me stop making babies" else none of us would be here
I think a person who knows what he is doing will always get a job .
Give it a thought, why do you wanna do a job at all.. ? Get into entrepreneurship. think about what YOU want to do.

now to answer your most important question :

my question is what would be my position after 6 months ..

That question, dear one, is a very very deep philosophical question, you know. I have never been a planner and really do believe a lot of people out there are just like me, taking life as it comes.

Best of luck
