I heard about this site on NPR this weekend.

Basically, if you want to read an article on the NYTimes.com website -- you need to register first. Its free. But its still a pain to register for all these news sites.

BugMeNot.com has a repsitory of a bunch of login names for various websites. So, for the NYtimes BugMeNot gives a username/password that you can use to view this lovely article about Peter Jackson suing NewLine.

Pretty slick huh?

i've had it installed for quite a while as a plugin for firefox. it works ok, but it ONLY works with everyone's help. SOMEBODY has to create that ficticious account. every so often, the sites will wise up, and delete the bogus ones. then somebody has to create another one.

But overall, it's VERY cool...

oh, and p.s. there is a bug-me-not login here at the JavaRanch...

ya know... as long as someone gives it a non-obviously ficitious display name... then I think its a legit account... Funny that it already has 26 posts.

Yeah, I have been using bugmenot for a while. Really cool, and such as simple idea!

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
