This week's book giveaway is in the Mac OS forum. We're giving away four copies of a choice of "Take Control of Upgrading to Yosemite" or "Take Control of Automating Your Mac" and have Joe Kissell on-line! See this thread for details.
Today i tried Devaka's diagnostic exam and got only 33%. I am highly dejected on my result. I have to sit on dec 22nd for exam and no other choice for postponing. Please anyone help me on how to improve ? .I am reading Kathy& Bert study guide second time and practicing some free mock exams. I am really really disappointed on my result.i feel that i am not fit for exam. any suggestion would be a great help to me.
You should not be upset like this. December 22 is so far. Go through K&B 3 times at least to grab the fundamentals. Work on the topics which is not clear to you. Spend more time to the book. You can do it. It is not that hard.
Yes Preetha..I am also in the process of taking those exams... They are tough indeed...Lot of concepts not mentioned in K & B are found in the questions... I do not know whether the real exam goes so deeeeeeply into concepts..
My experience of the was that Devaka's diagnostic exam was that it was pointlessly difficult. I took the diagnostic exam in the final week of my preparation and scored 43% (with the caveat that I only took about 40mins to an hour to complete the exam's questions). I was obviously concerned (as are you).
I then decided to download the bonus MasterExam and take as much time as I needed to help build my confidence (I took the MasterExam on the Saturday before the real exam which was scheduled for Monday). I scored 64% and felt a little happier if still a bit aprehensive.
I took the exam on the Monday and scored 80%. Whilst I was happy enough with the result (as I hadn't commited loads of time to revising and preparing) I felt that I could easily have scored 5 to 10% more if I'd have taken some more time.
In conclusion, I personally found Devaka's exam lab unhelpful as it was not representative of the difficulty of real exam's questions. The MasteExams are also on average not representative of the questions in the real exam, although some of the exam questions were of a similar difficulty. The differential between scores on the MasterExam and real exam appears to be in the order of 15-20%.
Hope this helps reassure you. [ November 19, 2008: Message edited by: Graeme Jenkinson ]

should i go through the diagnostic one more time? or is it good to start practising those programs?
Please clear me. i am also facing timing problem.couldn't able to finish before 15 mts, missing to review the things.
Well I have not given that exam a shot yet (I started one of the exam, solved about 10-12 questions and closed it and scored 13% i.e. most of my answers were correct and at the result screen the program crashed) but if tests you on pitfalls and traps then I think it is a good thing. However if you face any question which is not given in K&B then I think you should not put too much attention at it. Don't let any simulator scare the hell out of you. Just take the Master Exam as base and rate other mock exams according to it...
