vis.ta (n) A distant view or prospect... Based on Microsoft's track record for hitting release dates I can't help but see the irony in their choice of name.

The amount of buzz vista has generated is disappointing. No one is excited. Why will anyone pay $150 for an OS which is more secure, networks well, reboots less - which all modern OSes other than Windows already offer - wheres the innovation billy? About transluceny and document preview - I am pretty sure I will turn it off to speed up the poor machine - just like I do with the eye candy effects in Windows XP. Recently I installed Mandriva linux 10.1 on a dell latitude X300 laptop. Its so responsive, boots fast, shutsdown fast ( making up for the lack of sleep - and I dont miss sleep - anyway it used to take the same time for windows to wake up ), has a good set of applications out of the box - nothing I miss of. If only I can get the wireless networking working...damn you broadcom.. Well I resisted so far and thought will not say it - OS X rocks. Perhaps Windows 2015 can catch up with what OS X 10.4 is now. Come on Sheeple get a Mac mini and see what an OS oughta be.

I prefer an OS that I can get my work done on. Linux for development Windows for games Both work just fine for me. No reboots, no virus', no adware. If linux were the mainstream OS it would be just as vulnerable to attacks as windows is right now. Stop visiting porn sites and stop trying to download illegal copies of games, movies, and music, and the problems with windows tend to disapear.

I would also like to second Gregg's comment. Well put!
