Hi guys
As i have almost done with SCWCD.
now I am planning for SCBCD 5.0. I whipped through many posts and came to know about 2 books.
1. Head first EJB
2. EJB3 In Action

As I am a beginner for EJB technology.
And I need a book for both easy understanding and for SCBCD 5.0.
But I can only afford 1 book.
So please guys help me

I recommend the book by Monson-Hafel:
Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0, Fifth Edition, O'Reilly

But EJB 3 in action is good too, and their authors are active in the forum.

I bought both books.
From a personal perspective, I would recommend the EJB3 in Action as it is more suitable for EJB 3 newbies.

Am confused too. I am completely new to EJB. And i too read lot of posts on this forum. There are two choices
EJB in Action
EJB Orielly.

I have both the books. My SCBCD voucher will expire by Jan 31 2009. I am having 0 confidence i can learn EJB and more over score good in certification.
Is it possible to do so in 2 months time?

Also which book is best.

I would suggest you to go for EJB 3 in action as you are a beginner.

Head First EJB is about EJB 2.0 and you cannot use that book for SCBCD 5.0 as there is a lot of difference between EJB 2.0 and EJB 3.0

You can also use Mastering EJB and Oreilly EJB 3.0 for reference.

Yes It is possible to understand EJB3 and finish Certification within 2 months.

If you have any idea on ORM tools like hibernate or Oracle TopLink then it is much easier

My best advice for you is to first sell off the voucher to someone who is interested to give the exam before 31 Jan 2009. If you a complete novice to EJB, then I guess 2 months would not be enough. Though EJB 3.0 is much simpler when compared to the old versions of EJB 2.x, there is a lot that needs to be understood and it simply takes time and a lot of practice. I'd say a period of 4 months for a complete newbee with 4 hours of practice and reading everyday would help crack the exam.

Sachin,
I haven't read O'Reilly's book, but I can recommend you Manning's EJB3 In Action if you're a beginner.

I have both the books.

That was quick getting O'Reilly's.

Head First EJB is NOT an option for the BCD 5 exam.

Go for EJB 3 in Action if you want an easy to read book on EJB 3.

I personally used the O'Reilly book for the exam but I cannot say that it was an easy read.
