I've read a lot of threads on books for newbies like me.
I am confused on this:
If EJB3.0 in Action is the most appropriate one for beginners, is it enough for SCBCD5.0(plus all the necessary mock exams)?

After reading this book, do I still have to read other less newbie-friendly but more comprehensive ones like Enterprise Javabeans 3.0, O'reilly?

Hi Tang,

I have read on the forum that the Oreilly book is somewhat difficult to understand. I have had a taste of it. I had read it till 6.4 section and found it OK. But could not continue with it.

Now looking forwards to restart afresh! But I now want to dive in the 'in action' book instead.

Thank you for your suggestion. Now I am quite convinced of the need to begin with EJB3.0 in Action. But I still don't know whether this book is enough as the main book(plus mock exams, notes, etc.) for SCBCD5.0.

I would say try the mock exams and check your level then you can decide if you are ready for the exam. Some of these exams are not expensive and many blogger said they are worth the money.
I have heard many people going back to the Sun specs after testing themselves with these exams.

Both the in action book and the O'Reilly's book are good. I found the action more suitable when you want to know about EJB 3 as a beginner.

Ejb 3.0 in Action covers good concepts in a very simple way and gives excellent knowledge about EJB3.0 , but just reading that will not help for EJB3.0 ... EJB 3.0 Orielly is certification oriented book .. so start with ejb3 in Action and move to Orielly , practice mock exams + read ejb3.0 specifications
