About stateful beans

I've just read chapter 3 of EJB in action. I wonder how the EJB container keeps track of client identities.

If a servlet uses a stateful bean with dependency injection, how does the EJB container know which http session the request belongs to?

What if the end-user disables cookies and the servlet doesn't use url-rewriting?

Oh!I find that the question is addressed in chapter 12.
