I removed all the remove methods and the stateful session bean was deployed with no issues and even served the client. Is this expected ?
Since remove methods are of great performance importance in stateful session bean is this expected ? Shouldn't the session bean not be deployed
if there are no remove methods.

Is this expected ?

Yes, because remove methods are not mandatory. You are responsible to make them, and responsible to call them.
