Johannes, that's not the reaction they're aiming for: you're supposed to be overwhelmed with the irresistable impulse to go buy the book, read it over the weekend (all 600+ pages) and then ace the test next week. Pauline

I'm overwhelmed with the irrestitable impulse to run screaming from this book. The questions and the explanation of the answers read like the goal of the book was to express ideas in the most tedious, annoying, and uppity language possible. Ugh. I got 5 right, by the way.

Boy, it's really raining on my parade. I thought I was beginning to understand some of this stuff. 1 out of 10 is my score. Matthew Phillips

Well, I got 70%! I guess I don't need to get the book after all, even though I didn't know what half the questions asked...

I understood all of the questions, but I only got 5 right. The last one seems especially designed to be humiliating, becuase unless you know your history you've only got a 1 in 5 chance of getting it right. As a selling point for his book, I think it's pretty poor. As a test of your understanding of UML it's somewhat better. Paul R

I'm at the same level as you Johannes if you guessed at most of the questions as I did. I agree with Michael statement. Very uppity.

scoring 6/10 doesn't make me feel good, since I missed #1,3 and 4, which should be relatively easy. :-(

A blatant, yet obviously effective, marketing ploy. (4 out of 10, though I feel absolutely NO burning desire to go out and buy this book).

Doh! I did, well let's just say, Not so good on this one. That's a great confidence booster, (in the words of Richard) NOT!

3 out of 10... not bad since I haven't ever seen UML before except what is here on the website (OOP-4). I agree, no desire to learn about it from this book, that's for sure. Jason

As a professional test designer (not for javaranch), I think this quiz is very poorly designed.

Yes. The actual exam. Of course I don't do it all alone. There is a small group of us. We usually pick questions for two exams and the examinees get one of the two exams. Then we get Nedelsky ratings and the whole bit after the students are finished.

30% is my score. Zero knowledge on UML, as for the rest I thought I knew a little bit before I took the test. But I am not going to read the book either. Practical experience counts for more. Jytsika
