Hi all,

I just returned from taking the exam and I'm thrilled to have cleared it with 97%. I had one question wrong in the "Structure and Deployment of Web Applications" module, and one in the "Web Application Security" module.

My learning path for this exam:
- 4 runs through HFSJ (1.4 version): read very carefully 2 times while taking notes, one rather quick pass and a last very quick pass
- during these runs, I tried quite a bit in small code examples. Also, for my job I got to do some JSP/Servlet work (I even teached juniors about it ), so that helped too.
- Bryan Basham's Tutorial on Dynamic Attributes
- Peabody on SCWCD patterns
- after the above I took the HFSJ mock exam, scored 50/69 and I spent some time analysing my mistakes.
- I spent yesterday cramming with Mikalai Zaikin's SCWCD 1.4 study guide, and my own written notes

I would say the HFSJ mock exam difficulty is about the same as the real exam, ofcourse you get the bonus of knowing how many correct answers you have to give on the real exam.

The exam took me about 1:40, I had first marked about 25 questions for a second review, tried to think my way through the harder ones and it paid off quite nice. I never had to just guess the answer.

Furthermore, I thinks this really shows that people with the older HFSJ really have no need to go for the newer book targeted at SCWCD 5, the tutorial on dynamic attributes is all you will miss so read it and you're set.

I couldn't conclude this post without thanking Bryan Basham, Mikalai Zaikin and Peabody.

And now, on to SCBCD...

Edit: I said what I did, but I didn't said what I didn't do. Well, I have opened up the specs, but I gave up on them very quickly. Couldn't bring myself to even skim through the immense mass of data in it.
