Cleared SCJP 98%

I Passed SCJP 6 98% (71 out of 72).

I only scored 91% in Declarations, Initialization and Scoping. Rest all are 100%.

The exam was completely from the K&B book. Thanks to the authors Kathy and Bert for that. Apart from the the Master Exam helped a lot. Devaka's ExamLab was very similar to the real exam. Although the real exam didn't warn when wrong number of options are chosen like it does in ExamLab. Drag and Drop reset problem was there. All in all I completed the exam in 1:45hrs. The machine on which I was giving the exam was a bit slow and the mouse was rubbish. I also faced some problems in beginning when my signature didn't match. I was in a panic but the center head was very helpful. He said me to calm down and sorted the things out.

Now for my preparation. I started my preparation with SCJP 1.4 from Khalid Mughal book. I also downloaded the bonus chapters from their site but soon realized that it was not enough. Then I joined javaranch and then came to know about the K&B book and purchased. All in all it took me about 8 months to clear the exam. I didn't buy any of the paid mock exams. I just gave Inquisition mock exam, Master exam and ExamLab. Apart from that I gave a lot of free mock exams and the trial exams of enthuware and whizlabs. All in all the exam was disappointingly easy. I was only confused in 2 questions and one of them was wrong in the end.

Thanks to all the ranchers for all their support and encouragement. Now that I am finally SCJP, I can move on to SCWCD

@Markus I am not going to leave the SCJP forum. I am addict to it

@Debashree I have not thought about it yet but most probably I will start with Head First Servlet JSP. Actually I am currently a web developer and I have been working for 4 months now so I don't know how easy it would be for me...

Thanks Anut and Harvinder.

Also I would like to share that once I asked that is there any option to add notes to questions in SCJP. I had seen that option in one mock exam. But someone said that there is no such option. But there is such an option. You can add your notes to every question so that you can recall what you were thinking when the first time you faced the question. Although I didn't needed it but it is indeed helpful.

Actually I completed my exam so early that I was playing around with the exam engine. I reviewed a drag and drop question and verified that it get's reset or not and a couple of other things...

The user interface was similar. The questions were damn easy on the real exam. I scored 61% on examlab final exam and you know my score on the real exam

Thanks everyone

Meera if you can give full time to SCJP, then I will also suggest you the same strategy that everyone follows. First read the K&B book and solve the Self Test questions and answers. If you find it difficult to understand any topic just for it on google or ask it on javaranch. Also make programs as much as you can. You grasp a lot of things when you code which you cannot learn just by reading a book. Just experiment with the things as much as you can. If the book says that you should add 1 and 2 to get 3, then add 0.5 and 2.5 and see if you get 3 that way too (so basically just see what happens if you do things that are not covered in the book).
After you are finished with the book, go for mock exams. You can go for the free mock exams or the paid ones (It completely depends on your choice). I didn't get any paid mock exams. I just gave Master Exam, Inquisition and ExamLab. Apart from that I gave a lot of free mock exams on the internet but I think some of them are not according to the objectives so they may make you nervous as you might fail on those exams.
You can also read the Java Language Specification (JLS) if you want. If you have a bit of experience with Java (and I mean coding experience not work experience) then you will not find the exam tough. In fact I was disappointed with the real exam as it was easier than my expectations
