Hi guys. I have a large eclipse project which depends on 6 other projects. When I launch, it rebuilds everything. Id like it to only rebuild files that have changed since the last build. Or, Id just like it to build a little faster. How can I get eclipse to build more cleverly ? Please suggest a non ant solution ! This problem is not so severe or complex that I need to custom build using a powerful tool like ant (at least, not yet) I assume there should be an eclipse pref for this ?
One good/easy way is to customize the "aspects" or "entities" on the validation eclipse does during the build. You can customize and uncheck the not-so-important-and-not-much-wanted options like EJB, Schema Validator etc., Check your "Preferences - Validation" menu option in Eclipse!
Turn off automatic builds in Eclipse. Under Windows > Preferences, then under General > Workspace uncheck "Build automatically". (This is the first thing I do when i upgrade to a new version of Eclipse, but then I do all of my builds via Ant from the command line anyway.) Of course you then have to remember to do the builds manually (right-click project, then click Build Project).
