How to get a .com domain for free?

Is their any way to get a .com domain for free?

Someone told me that we can do it; but I don't know how. If you know, please tell me?

I doubt that you can. But its trivial to get one for $7 or so, which is close enough to free that its not worth doing any work to find one for less.

there are lots of services "registrars" that sell domain names. godaddy.com and domain.com and 1and1.com. While Network Solutions charges $40 or so per year, the others are much cheaper.

This is for registration, you still need hosting, but they will sell you hosting for a low low fee.

Its well worth it to watch some video podcasts such as crankygeeks, tekzilla or hak5, as they are sponsored be the registrar companies and offer discount codes.

Google App Engine is another way of doing things your way; one of the main motivating factors for me to learn Python was to have a .com domain free of charge, running my first hello world!

Nitin what you are talking of is in real terms a subdomain,ain't it ?

Aah! Yes it is. There are charges for your entire domain here as well. But enough to get one started
