I know I needn't unzip this, but it won't anyway. I've got
WinZip 8.0 (32bit), WinZip 6.x, and PowerArchiver6.0.x on WinNT.
I've downloaded it 4 or 5 times, read this link: http://www.javaranch.com/ubb/Forum19/HTML/000624.html
And I've found the solution!
Don't download with the InternetExplorer!
Use Netscape for example....
Bye, Stuart

Gremlins. It must be Gremlins. I had trouble unzipping this file too, but that was because I didn't have Winzip installed on my system when I thought I did. Your problem sounds much more mysterious. Good luck, and let us know how you solve it!

Possibly the file got corrupted during the download. However, if it is some other reason, we'd like to track it down. This is why I'd like to know the file size you got (before it gets overwritten) if anyone has similar problems.

Hi, Marilyn.
I must admit, the mistake may have been on my side as the following will explain:
Before downloading the file with IE5.5 successfully, I went into the pull-down menu EXTRAS then chose INTERNETOPTIONEN (German version) and reset my SETTINGS (EINSTELLUNGEN). Then it worked.
Sometimes, I only had a 120 kbyte file---sometimes 160 kbytes.

The newest one is
<pre>
07/27/2001 07:18a 164,716 JavaRanchCommon.jar
05/06/2001 04:40a 150,528 JavaRanchCommonOld.jar
</pre>
but in Windows File Manager it shows up as 161KB

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. It was a tiny ad.
