Hi All,

I have seen one ajax calculater example in Stripes examples. There is one Prototype JavaScript library. Can anyone let me know the significance of that library and do I need to import this library if I want to use Ajax with Stripes? Thanks in advance!

The Prototype library simplifies AJAX code, because using the XMLHttpRequest object directly is kind of a pain. Stripes doesn't care what client-side technology is used to make the AJAX calls, though - you can use whatever you like.

Oh ok...But Can you explain the purpose of so much coding which is implemented in prototype.js and can I use this for other examples? Or I will have make some changes in that?

Prototype does a lot of things; see here for some details, particularly the "Introduction to AJAX" page (which is the part being used in this example). You do not have to change its code to use it.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
