Best practice to build web GUI with dynamic layout? (with some kind of movable tiles)

Good day all,

I was thinking of using Apache Tiles 2 for the view of my new (Spring 3 based) webapp. But I would like my users to be able to move the different view tiles, or even minimize them, and then save that layout to their profile. E.g. like the control panels at myspace have.

My first (current) idea is by examining how the javascript mootools concerning sortables (like http://demos.mootools.net/Dynamic.Sortables and http://demos111.mootools.net/DragDrop) implement this.

But perhaps there's already a set of tools which allows a java view to be created in the way I want? Could be because this behaviour is implemented already quite often on various sites.

Thanks a lot in advance and have a nice day!
