How much time it take to reach your office?

How much time it takes to reach your office? What do you do during transit?

To reach Lower Parel from Boriwali, it takes around 1 hrs. In the morning if I can breath properly in 8:57 Charchgate fast, I consider my day as good.

In evening I read new Paper.

i m livin' in virar, and travel to mindspace complex, link road, malad/goregaon (both!).

there is no time-restriction at my office (so far) so i don't care much about timings n all... it takes me almost 2 hrs to reach office and vice versa.

I live 40 miles north of Dublin, and work bang in the middle of the city. I could drive (25 minutes for first 35 miles on motorway, an hour or more for the last 5 miles), but I take the northern commuter trains, which takes little less than an hour. I work, read, listen to something, watch a movie or sleep on the train.

Where do u work in MindSpace ? i mean which company ? r there many IT companies in MindSpace area ?

ness, countrywide, merrill lynch, morgan-stainley, jp-morgan, atos-origin and sooooo many other companies are there in mindspace.

The normal plan is that I get the 08:45 train from Catford Bridge to London Bridge, arriving at 09:00, followed by a twenty minute walk along the South Bank of the Thames to my office. In theory its fantastic - all those great views, historic buildings and so on make for a relaxing walk and a great way to wake myself up for a day of programming.

Its often just a theory though. What normally happens (and happened today) is something like this:

08:35 Half way through computer game and realise I'm running late. Quickly jam on shoes and hurry to station.
08:44 Wooo, got to station on time! Nearly got a hernia on the way, but that's ok because I'll get into work on time. Oh. What's that message on the board? Train delayed for quarter of an hour? Damn.
08:55 Hmmm, looks like the next train isn't coming either. Help.
08:59 Argh, quick, to the other nearby station on a different line.
09:00 Arrive at pace at Catford station (along with all the other people giving up on the previous station. Imagine a marathon being run by fat people in suits). Just about squeeze onto a late running (and horribly full) train to Blackfriars.
09:01 Remember that one of the many faults with being short is that my nose is level with most people's armpits.
09:05 Several different people get bored and turn their iPods onto maximum volume. Strangely they all seem to be listening to something written by a rabid drum and base lunatic with emotional issues.
09:15 Train stops two minutes travel outside of Blackfriars station. I can almost see my office out of the window, but have to wait for quarter of an hour for the train to move into the station. No reason given by driver.
09:40 Arrive in office looking a nice shade of red. Previously avoided hernia making a good attempt to push its way into the schedule.

Dave is describing the reason I don't work in London anymore. There is little more soul destroying than having a (theorically) 25minutes train journey turn into a 2hours 25minutes train journey because of the 2hours spent idling (for no apparent reason) in a siding near Ealing Broadway.

I can walk to work in 25 mintues these days. Much better.

It takes 1hr to 75min and as generally I dont take shuttle, I drive my bullet(and believe me, I love driving my new bullet ), even at 80 Kmph it feels like driving at 40 Kmph.

So total 2 hr I waste daily.

But looks like petrol price would make me to catch shuttle.

I live in Fargo, ND, and it takes me 15 mintues to drive the 5 miles from my apartment to my office. One of the many reasons Forbes magazine listed Fargo as one of the best small cities (~200,000 people) to live in in the USA!

I live 3.4 miles from work. It takes me between 7 and 13 minutes to travel either way, depending on weather, traffic, and the timing of traffic lights.

Actually, after growing up in the Buffalo/Rochester, NY area, I wouldn't think that North Dakota is all that bad.

You joke, but it's true. Almost every car is equipped with an engine block heater, and it's not uncommon to see cars plugged into outside outlets during the winter!

I have about 20 minutes of fairly heavy, nerve wracking traffic. I observe I'm starting to behave badly and I imagine SAM launchers under the front of my car.

Before this office I worked two locations that were 1 mile, about 5 minutes desk to kitchen table, home for lunch every day for 20 years.
