Firefox or Opera

In the humble and unhumble opinion of the ranchers, which is a better browser, Opera or Firefox???

I use firefox on 128 MB RAM. It is slow to start but once started it is ok. Still to check opera...

Firefox. I tried Opera a few years back, when it was still buggy. Once Firefox came out, I never went back. I test my web applications on Firefox and IE.

I recently jumped to FireFox from the full Mozilla Suite. It actually took a little getting used to, as a number of UI features seemed to be in the "wrong" place after using Mozilla for so long. Now I love it.

Tried Opera about 2 years ago and it seemed too "weird". Everything was in the "wrong" place. Something you use as much as a Web browser needs to step into the background and not bother you, and Opera didn't seem to me to be doing that. Of course, that's just a first impression...

I always prefer Firefox for the web browsing.

But for an average Indian like me, who can speak and read 3 diff. languages, IE is the only choice left to read my native newspapers.
Because last time I checked, Firefox/Opera don't support dynamic fonts.

Firefox by far is the best. Opera is too weird. Unfortunately, there are still sites, when using Windows, that require authentication via IE.

I prefer Opera over Firefox. I have been using Opera for quite some time. Had a pretty nice experience. I would suggest you give it a try now. Now Opera is also amongst the free browsers.

I just clicked on the Maharashtra Times link, in Firefox 1.0.7, and as far as I can see it renders the page correctly. I can't read any of it, but I do see both Latin and Devanagari fonts appearing. There's none of those rectangular "can't-render-this-character" boxes.

Used firefox for a while.
Started using IE again last week. I felt IE is better if you want to view pdfs etc.

May be i need to change some settings on firefox. Don't know.

Firefox.
Tried Opera a few times in the past, didn't like it. The reasons being slightly unfamiliar UI, and the ads shown on the free download version.

If it is for your own use, I suggest you go ahead and start with the Firefox 1.5 RC1. One of the good things in it is more streamlined updating of Firefox, as well as the extensions.

Despite the majority of the opinions going pro-Firefox here, somehow Opera seems better to me, what with the ads being taken off now.

One feature I especially miss in Firefox: Retention of browsed windows after restart of the browser/OS. I can think of many other nice features in Opera that I haven;t found in Firefox.

Suggest guys try the latest versions of both and recalibrate.

In my days, I used to go to the bookstore and browse. And they had a good collection of books to browse through. Didn't need no HTML nothing.

Ah, how well I remember the Olde Days, when we'd gather around the tribal storyteller, hunched over the fire at the cave-mouth, and and be terrified and enthralled by turns as he shared the tribal knowledge with us. How we all laughed!

I remember to my horror those days when some weird folks brought in this thing, they call it writing, they represent words in funny symbols, ugh, how loathsome, what will happen to to our great tradition of reciting all Beowulf by heart. This "writing" is a bad device, it will cripple our creativity.
