Before buying a TV think about the amount of time you will be spending on it and what are the implications of it. I am happy without TV.
That is true. My parents had old TV.They gave it to me. I took cable connection but the picture is not clear. I thought things will be better in new TV.

It was NOKLA N95 - A Nokia N95 Clone. There is a parallel world of pirated / copycat China made mobile for major brands. They are very much popular in small towns and rural areas. [ June 27, 2008: Message edited by: Chetan Parekh ]

It is a old TV which did have any remote. An electrician embeded some chip to make it work with a remote. The old volume button does not work. Volume can adjusted with remote control only. Orginially it had 10 channels only. The remote made us to view 100 channels. Changing batteries did not help.

My friend told me that universal remote controls are available in S.P.Road Bengaloru costing around 800 rupees. The value of TV may be less than Rs.1000.

Open remote, clean the dust over the pad and button, try then.
If still it does not work then buy a pencil and rub at button and pad and again try.
If still does not work, then you can buy that type of remote in any electronic shop in 200..
if you dont get that remote in Bangalore in 200 then take that remote to railway station, and throw it in front of coming train.. ;-)

only 200? Is that china made low quality product?
I visited croma(TATA) couple of days before, there i saw an universal remote of Logitech costs 15000 INR. First, I thought it's the price of whole TV set but actually it was 52 inch sony wega TV so it's not feasible, then i came to know that that remote is free with the TV set which costs around 200,000 INR [ August 29, 2008: Message edited by: Vishal Pandya ]
15,000 rupees for a remote control? That's US$ 350 !! For just a remote control!

We don't hear from Prad Dip anymore, because he's too busy zapping with his new remote control [ August 31, 2008: Message edited by: Jesper Young ]

Howdy ranchers,
Since this thread keeps on going and going and going...
I'm in the market for new tv stuff too. My story is I've been watching tv (once in a while) off of a laptop adapter while I save up. Along those lines with getting my main computer fixed/upgraded after moving, I've been thinking about getting a Sony Bravia 32" to use as a tv/computer monitor while I save up for the big daddy. Big daddy will be 50"+, and I've been looking at Fry's for the drool factor. The contenders are Sony, Phillips and LG.
I guess for the moment, I'm more curious how others are using their tv's as monitors too. Please comment...
