I came across an article referencing the first bug. (This would be Grace Hopper's physical bug.)

She was a cool lady. She had a near standard speech that she would give that was wonderful and inspiring. She would hand out short lengths of wire, under a foot, the distance that light traveled in a nanosecond. She also pushed her audience to think in pico-seconds, which were more the size of a pepper grain.
