please suggest some travel destinations (other than Vegas
) in/around California for the Xmas-new year period... the weather is bad almost everyplace I can think of!

Go to the Caribbean. It's here (Leeward Antilles) average 30 degrees celsius thoroughout the year. Every day.
Even made a beach and snorkling day the last sunday

San Diego has never had bad weather any time I've ever visited it.
