Hi all,

I have a general query. I just want to know if i am having an application which is using EJB2.1 and want it to change it to EJB 3.0, how much impact will be in terms of code change and other factors?

This depends upon how many EJB elements have to be converted. For example, if your application has 200+ Entity EJB and 25+ Session EJB, then this is a significant impact. If your application has 5 Entity EJB and one Session EJB, then this is not so significant.

Another factor is how many programmers will be working on the conversion. Seven programmers can get the job completed more efficiently than one programmer.

Everything needs to be tested, so a test strategy, test plan and test cases need to be written.

Micheal,

Feel free to check out the migration chapter in EJB 3 in Action. The migration should be relatively painless, since it does not have to be done all at once while using a Java EE 5 compliant container.

Best regards,
Reza
